Although the title has changed to Industrial Emergency Services Training: Incipient Level, this is the 2nd edition IFSTA manual dealing with incipient-level fire protection for industrial occupancies. The scope of this manual is limited to those standards, laws, and regulations that apply to the incipient-level fire brigade member.

NFPA® 600, Standard on Industrial Fire Brigades, and NFPA® 1081, Standard for Industrial Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualifications, are addressed in this manual. These standards outline the general requirements for an organized industrial fire brigade and define the minimum standards and the professional requirements for incipient industrial fire brigade members. However, the functions that the industrial fire brigade will be expected to perform in the workplace are site-specific and will vary from facility to facility and from company to company.

This book is written for industrial emergency services personnel who fight incipient-stage fires and for management personnel who are responsible for developing procedures and training for the industrial fire brigade.
